Professional Biography

Dr. Mattheos graduated from the Dental Faculty University of Athens in 1997.

He completed his PhD degree in the University of Malmö, in Sweden where he also attended specialist training in Periodontology. He also holds a MSc degree in Health Informatics.

He completed a 3 year full time residency program (MASc) in Periodontology and Fixed Prosthodontics in the University of Bern, Switzerland.

His research is disseminated through more than 35 publications in international peer reviewed journals and he has received the IADR young researcher’s award in 2003. He is accredited Periodontologist by the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP) and actively involved in  many international professional and scientific bodies.
He is currently Associate Professor of Periodontology in the Dental School of the Griffith University in Gold Coast, where he is active with teaching, research and clinical patient care in the disciplines of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching and research  within Periodontology and Implant Dentistry in the undergraduate (Grad Dip Dent) and postgraduate (D Clin Dent , M Clin Dent) programs
  • Development of an innovative Implant Dentistry Curriculum for University education through an ALTC Leadership grant.
