Why study Psychology at Griffith?

Clinical Psychologist in consultation with a clientPsychology is both a science and a profession. Psychologists can specialise in a wide range of different areas concerned with helping people or organisations function effectively. People choose to study psychology for different reasons. Some are motivated by a desire to help people, some are curious about people, some are motivated by both a curiosity and a desire to help.

Our program has a distinctive and positive vision. At Griffith School of Psychology we are committed to educating our graduates to make a positive difference in the world. Our program is designed so that students have the best opportunity to apply their knowledge, build professional identity and capability. Our students learn to work and lead in teams, effectively communicate with others, analyse and solve problems, think critically about social issues and manage projects to successful outcomes.

There has been a good balance between a theory focus and a practical skills focus, which I believe has turned me into a confident and competent practitioner. Emily Hurren

I started my psych degree at another uni, but quickly realised that I wanted a more applied learning environment. I transferred to Griffith and really enjoyed the direction of the program and cooperative student atmosphere. I felt the Griffith psychology program gave me a sense of direction as well as supported my professional development. Amanda White

More details about the professional requirements needed to qualify as a psychologist can be found on Learning about my profession.
