Position: Lecturer & Research Ethics Adviser
Brief History:
Dr Brigid Gillespie is a lecturer in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Griffith University, Gold Coast campus. Prior to entering the tertiary sector, she practiced in the operating room setting for sixteen years, working in both the public and private sectors. During this time, Brigid held roles as a Perioperative Nurse Educator and Nurse Manager. She has developed skill in both quantitative and qualitative methods (ethnography). Brigid is an active member in the Australian College of Operating Room Nurses and is President Elect of the Perioperative Nurses? Association, Queensland. Brigid is currently researching patient safety in relation to teamwork and communication, and competence in the operating room. She has published in peer reviewed journals and presented her research nationally and internationally.
