Professor Don Stewart

Head of School

Don has had over 30 years experience working in a variety of countries in the fields of public health, health promotion, community development and education.

His international experience has included consultancies and Adviser positions with the World Health Organization (Vietnam, China, Fiji, Papua New Guinea), World Bank (Solomon Islands), AusAID (China, Papua New Guinea), Rotary Foundation (Singapore) and VSO (Philippines).

Don is also Project Director for the ‘Resilient Children and Communities’ project in Queensland, and the Asia-Pacific Resilience Project in the Western Pacific.

Dr Glen Shaw

Convenor of the Environmental Health Major in the Bachelor of Public Health

Glen has extensive experience in environmental health investigations and research projects.  Glen's expertise also extends to microbiological contaminants including cyanobacteria.

Glen has also developed extensive collaborative links in environmental health, both with national and international researchers, and with relevant health authorities in Australia and internationally. 

Dr Shaw is also a research member within the Australian Rivers Institute, with the largest concentration of water researchers in Australia.

Dr Neil Harris

Convenor of the Health Promotion Major in the Bachelor of Public Health

Neil has been lecturing at Griffith University since 1997. During this time he has developed and lectured undergraduate and postgraduate courses in health research methodology, workplace health and, most recently, ecological dis-integrity and population health.

Neil's primary research interests are in the area of ecological dis-integrity and social change.

Dr Fiona Rowe

Convenor of the Nutrition Major in the Bachelor of Public Health.

Fiona is a Public Health Nutritionist and Lecturer at the School of Public Health. She lectures undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the social and behavioural determinants of nutrition, community engagement and health promotion and qualitative research methodology.

Fiona has also recently established a Graduate Certificate in Health Services Management relevant to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community-Controlled health industry.

Dr Rowe's current research investigates effective strategies to promote nutrition and health in the school and community setting and in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

Ms Bernadette Sebar

Convenor of the Workplace Health and Rehabilitation Major in the Bachelor of Public Health.
