Health promotion is the process of enabling people to increase control over their health and its determinants.
This program focuses on the systems and practices that shape the health of nations, communities and individuals with an underlying philosophy that prevention is better than cure.
You will gain knowledge and skills to work with community and stakeholder groups to plan, deliver and evaluate programs to improve and maintain population health, especially in communities threatened by issues such as globalisation, technology, environmental degradation and population trends.
You will also develop knowledge and skills in health promotion theory and practice, with emphasis on working with groups and on communication strategies.
In your third year of study you will complete a practicum which will provide first-hand experience as a health promotion practitioner and will help you to integrate theory and practice for future employment.
