Griffith Psychology Student

Griffith’s psychology programs have a distinctive and positive vision – a commitment to educating our graduates to make a positive difference in the world.

Our program is designed so you have the best opportunity to apply your knowledge, build professional identity and capability. You will learn to work and lead in teams, effectively communicate with others, analyse and solve problems, think critically about social issues, and manage projects to successful outcomes.

Best teachers

Griffith University has some of Australia's best teachers in psychology who have been recognized with national awards for excellence in teaching:

  • Professor Keithia Wilson has received the prestigious Prime Minister's Award for Australian University Teacher of the Year.
  • Associate Professor Alf Lizzio, Dr Debra Bath and Dr David Neumann have received Citations for Outstanding Contributions to Student learning from the Australian Learning and Teaching Council.

Strong student research culture

Our School of Applied Psychology aims to involve undergraduate students in the process of research and enhance contact between staff and students. This is achieved through three programs:

  • Research Interest Groups – gives students who have an interest in a particular area of psychology the chance to explore the area further with other undergraduate students, postgraduate students and staff.
  • Psychology Undergraduate Internship Program – provides second and third-year undergraduate students with the opportunity to participate in more “hands on” experience in real research settings.
  • Undergraduate Psychology Journal – exhibits samples of high-quality work produced by undergraduate students and promotes research work being conducted by staff and postgraduate students.

Fully-accredited programs

In addition, our postgraduate clinical and organisational psychology programs are approved by the Australian Psychological Society's College of Clinical Psychology and College of Organisational Psychology respectively, for eligibility to become a member of those colleges.

All Griffith Bachelor and coursework postgraduate degrees are fully accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council.
