Dr Alison Haywood
Since joining the School of Pharmacy in 2003, Dr Alison Haywood has published several papers on improving the safety and stability of medicines, with special emphasis on compounded formulations and the stability of medicines repackaged into Compliance Aids.
Dr Haywood is a recognised expert in the field and was an expert reviewer for the PSA Professional Practice Standards.
Dr Haywood uses her research experience to provide students with real-life examples and tasks that help them become work ready. Her efforts in developing practical classes that help graduates meet the needs of their patients have been consistently recognised with teaching commendations and awards.
Ms Fiona Ellem
Ms Fiona Ellem comes to the School of Pharmacy with an extensive background in clinical pharmacy practice. This experience enables her to develop innovative and clinically-current material for students. Using a multidisciplinary approach, Ms Ellem helps students develop the skills necessary to provide patient-focused care and early interventions that reduce the need for hospital admissions.
Ms Ellem recently led a team of Griffith students from a number of health disciplines to first place in a nation-wide interprofessional student competition that challenged students to develop therapies for difficult patient cases.
Ms Ellem is also involved in teaching safe prescribing at the School of Medicine and continues to practice pharmacy in addition to her teaching role.
