Human service professionals are concerned with improving the social, economic, personal and communal well being of people. They seek to promote social inclusion and achieve equity, social justice, interdependence and human rights for those people who are adversely affected by social and economic factors.
The School of Human Services and Social Work consists of a multidisciplinary team whose members have been drawn from diverse professional and practice backgrounds. These include youth, family and community, working with older people, rehabilitation, disability studies, Indigenous practice, social work, psychology, education and early childhood. Academic and administrative staff work in collaboration to deliver quality programs at both undergraduate and postgraduate level that serve to prepare students for work in expanding Human Services fields.
Human services is one of Australia’s fastest growing and biggest industries, and one which offers a range of rewarding and exciting possibilities for graduates.
We invite you to take up this challenge: Help create a world where children are safe and cherished, where older people and people with disabilities are valued, where young people find meaning in their lives, where people who are homeless can have a home, where people with addictions can access professional help and where communities work together.
Human services at Griffith – be part of the solution.
