Research options
Among the many projects underway, our research is focussed on:
- exploring novel molecular targets for reducing infarct size during heart attack;
- understanding the biology of aging in the heart and vessels, in order to better evolve therapeutic approaches to managing the predominantly 'aged' population of heart disease sufferers;
- rehabilitation and exercise based approaches to management of chronic disease sufferers, including heart failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients; and
- control of cardiac cell death during periods of stress or oxygen deprivation;
- understanding the role of inflammation and bone marrow-derived cells in recovery and disease.
Study options
High school students and people looking for their first degree can apply to study one of Griffith University's world-leading health3 undergraduate programs.
People with undergraduate degrees in related fields can apply to do a research higher degree1 with supervision by a Heart Foundation Research Centre academic.
