Careers

As a graduate of the Griffith Health Group Honours program you will be able to plan and conduct research in health and human services and will be well-placed for positions in diverse industries and professions in the private and public sectors.

Enhance your employment options and skill mix

During your Honours year you will engage in research that plays a part in solving today's complex health and human service problems, and in the process gain a valuable skill mix that can be utilised in a range of occupations and industries:

  • Managing a research project will enable you to develop your project management skills;
  • Learn to conduct literature searches and critically evaluate literature which develops your analysis and critical evaluation skills. The research project as a whole is about problem-solving. These skills are life skills, essential for interpreting information, making informed judgments and evaluations and resolving problems;
  • Develop your negotiation skills;
  • Develop teamwork skills as you conduct research alongside a multidisciplinary cohort and researchers;
  • Develop your written, oral communication and interpersonal skills.

Graduate Destination Surveys reveal that students who complete an Honours year are significantly more likely to gain employment in an area related to their field of study, compared to students who have completed a three-year science degree.
