Dentistry is a fascinating profession. Every day you are dealing with new patients and new challenges. Using your diagnostic, medical and manual skills and modern technology, you are able to treat individuals, and whole communities, to improve oral health. You also need to have skills in research (to assist you in problem solving) and communication (teaching) to be a good dentist.
Through our program you will develop the theoretical knowledge underpinning dental practice and gain extensive clinical work in the Griffith Dental Clinic and on community placements.
Professional recognition
Successful completion of both the undergraduate and postgraduate programs (five years) will allow you to apply for registration as a general dentist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). As a registered dentist you may provide dental services towards improving patient’s wellbeing using concepts and skills in the practice of modern dentistry. This will comprise all basic aspects of dentistry including periodontology, endodontology, oral surgery, prosthodontics, orthodontics, paediatric dentistry and implantology.
