The Master of Dental Technology in Prosthetics is the equivalent of a one-year full-time coursework masters degree which enables graduates to seek registration as a dental prosthetist or clinical dental technician from the Dental Board of Australia. The program includes a major clinical component as well as subjects in biomedical and health science. As a student you will treat a wide range of patients involving removable prosthodontics in a state-of-the-art clinic in Southport on the Gold Coast.
This program has been approved by the Australian Government for student income support payments (Youth Allowance, Austudy and the Pensioner Education Supplement). Students should contact Centrelink for more information about their eligibility for student income support.
Professional recognition
Australian students: The program has been accredited initially by the Dental Technicians Board of Queensland. Graduates are eligible for professional registration as dental prosthetists in Australia and its Territories and New Zealand under Mutual Recognition legislation.
International students: Graduates are eligible for professional registration as dental prosthetists in Australia provided the English language proficiency is equivalent to the standards required - see note below. There are a large number of countries that recognise dental prosthetists or clinical dental technicians. They include, but are not limited to, the United States, Canada and several countries in Europe.
