Physiotherapy care is available to all members of the community, including those compensable by WorkCover (those compensable by WorkCover will be treated by postgraduate students or staff, not by undergraduate students).
While referral by a medical practitioner is not required, we do like to know of any medical attention you may be receiving so as to ensure that we are giving you the most appropriate treatment.
Exercise testing and prescription are available to all athletes and members of the community, including those with chronic disease like diabetes that are covered under the Medicare extended care plans.
Procedure
First, a comprehensive assessment of your problem will be carried out using the most current, reliable and valid assessment tools and techniques.
Your therapist will then explain the likely source/s of your symptoms or problems and outline the treatment and management plan that are, based on current scientific evidence, most likely to reduce pain, improve function, prevent recurrence and improve performance and/or physical activity.
The quality of your care depends on this initial assessment and education process. The initial consultation will be for 1 hour, subsequent treatment will be on average 30 minutes.
