Why study at Griffith?

When Griffith University opened the doors to its new School of Medicine in 2005, a new era in healthcare began. Griffith's innovative medical program is teaching the doctors of tomorrow the importance of community-and hospital-based health and preparing them, through extensive placement experiences, to deliver contemporary health care.

Griffith's Gold Coast students have access to an up-to-the-minute learning environment in the new $36 million Griffith Centre for Medicine and Oral Health, adjacent to the Gold Coast Hospital. The centre provides students with purpose-built anatomy and clinical skills facilities, a fully appointed dental clinic and associated dental laboratories. Included are a world-class formulation lab and virtual sterile dispensary suite for training tomorrow's pharmacists, and a 16 bed simulated hospital ward to develop the clinical skills of nursing students.

The Bachelor of Biomedical Science and Bachelor of Medical Science are also offered at Griffith University’s Nathan campus, where students have access to state-of-the-art facilities.

The Queensland Government announced in July 2005 it would build a new $500 million teaching hospital on Griffith's Gold Coast campus. Ultimately the Griffith School of Medicine will be located with the new teaching hospital which will help serve the health needs of this growing region and provide a strong focus for research and teaching excellence in Queensland.
