Research expertise

  • Dr Cornwell is a speech pathologist who specialises in the study of neurological rehabilitation and critical care populations
  • Broad research interests are in evaluating the efficacy of treatment in the stroke, brain injury, and critical care populations, and models of rehabilitation across the healthcare continuum
  • Specific research interests include:
  • Outcomes of goal-directed intervention
  • The application of neural plasticity principles to rehabilitation
  • Models of rehabilitation across the continuum of care hospital-to-community, and
  • Cognitive-communication disorders following right hemisphere damage

Current teaching areas

  • Dr Cornwell has experience in undergraduate teaching and supervision of research higher degree candidates.
