Rebecca Soole has recently been accepted into the Griffith University Research Higher Degrees Program as a Phd candidate, for the ARC Linkage Project Trends and predictors of suicide in Australian children.
In 2010, Rebecca completed a Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Psychology), at Bond University where she obtained Second Class Honours (Division B). Her dissertation was an examination into the prevalence of physical, psychological and sexual aggression in dating relationships. In 2009, she completed a Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Psychology) at Queensland University of Technology. Rebecca has worked at the Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital and also has satisfied the requirements for application for provisional registration with the Psychologist Board of Queensland.
Rebecca’s Thesis aims to evaluate the prevalence of suicide among Australian children under the age of 15 and to obtain a better understanding of predictive factors surrounding child suicide in order to develop recommendations for prevention. An additional component of the project focuses on the ramifications of the child’s suicide on the psychosocial functioning of parent survivors.
