- Perceptions and Expectations of One's Self: Mental Health and Suicide in Men
- Description
- This thesis analyses the construction of the perceptions and expectations that athletes have of themselves in order to better understand the relationships with mental health and suicide risks. Injury and retirement are particularly stressful psychological risk factors for athletes. The research aims to provide insight into mental ill-health and suicide issues through synthesising current and retired athletes' stories on post-injury and post-retirement depression.
