GUMURRII SSU is proud to offer Indigenous Undergraduate students commencing in 2012 the opportunity to participate in the new Hands Up! Tertiary Preparation Program. The program is designed to assist commencing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students enrolling at Griffith University to adapt to university life and improve their academic skills in a relaxed, supportive and culturally appropriate environment.
The Hands Up! Tertiary Preparation Program will be offered on the Nathan Campus, Griffith University from:
Monday 23 January – Friday 3 February 2012.
The program focuses on providing academic skills including:
- Computer Literacy Skills
- Academic Reading and Writing
- Preparing for Assignments
- Researching Topics
- How to prepare a Presentation
- Surviving lectures and tutorials
On completion of the Hands Up! Tertiary Preparation Program, it is expected that students will be equipped to manage the practical demands and Academic expectations of the university learning environment. Skills developed during the program will assist students to gain confidence and inspiration to success in their future studies at Griffith University.
