Commencing Undergraduate Students 

How do I know if I am eligible to apply?

Entry to the Honours College is limited and is highly competitive. Selection will be based on a combination of academic and personal achievement. Admission to the Honours College is available to school leavers and non-school leavers who are undertaking their first degree. International students meeting the eligibility criteria are able to apply for entry.

How do I apply?

Commencing students must complete, sign and submit a Sir Samuel Griffith Scholarship/Honours College application form on the due date each year.

When can I apply for the 2013 cohort?
Applications for commencing students will open July 2012.  
Do I still need to apply through QTAC?
Yes, you must apply for entry to Griffith through QTAC as well as completing the Sir Samuel Griffith Scholarship/Honours College application form.
Can I hold a Sir Samuel Griffith Scholarship and be in the Honours College?
Yes. All Sir Samuel Griffith Scholarship holders will be given the option of participating in the Honours College as a benefit of their scholarship.
How many places are there in the Honours College?
In 2013, the Honours College will accept approximately 140 students.
Do I have to have a minimum GPA to stay in the Honours College?
Yes. You will need to maintain a minimum grade point average of 5.5 (out of 7) to remain in the Honours College. If do not achieve 5.5 or above, you will be given one semester to improve your GPA.
Do I have to be in an Honours program to join?

No. The Honours College is not attached to Honours degrees - you can be in any undergraduate degree of 3 or more years to participate

Do I have to be in a special degree to join?

No. you can be in any Griffith undergraduate degree of three (3) or more years.

Continuing Undergraduate Students

I am currently studying an Undergraduate Degree program at Griffith University, can I join the College?

Yes, there is an annual intake.

When can I apply for the 2013 cohort?

Applications for 2013 continuing students open early September and close mid December 2012.

How do I know if I am eligible to apply?

To be considered for selection as a continuing student, the applicant must:

  • Have completed 40 credit points towards their first undergraduate degree
  • Be enrolled as a full time student
  • Have achieved a cumulative GPA of 6.5  - 7
  • Be recommended by a member of the academic community
  • Complete and submit the Griffith Honours College application form by the due date
I would like to do an Honours degree next year, can the Honours College help?

No.  Whilst we believe many of our students will choose to go on to do honours degrees, the Honours College is not responsible for honours degrees.  You should contact your school or Student Administration for further information regarding honours degrees.
