About this program

This program is part of the Research Higher Degree Supervision Workshop Series offered by the Griffith Institute for Higher Education.

The workshop is a specialised program for:

  • Griffith academic staff who are training to become qualified to supervise Research Higher Degree students as either a primary or secondary supervisor
  • newly qualified supervisors who wish to clarify and confirm their training to supervise Research Higher Degree students.

The program takes place in an interactive half day forum where staff are encourage to ask questions throughout. Often the topics covered will be directed towards the specific interests of, and questions raised by, participants on the day.

Topics covered include:

  • welcome from the Dean, Griffith Graduate Research School
  • dealing with red tape: Research Higher Degree administration
  • knowing and managing the candidature process (the supervisor / student relationship)
  • research higher degree procedures, policy and handbook
  • research funding and scholarships
  • research ethics
  • commercialisation
  • keeping informed

Schedule

Each semester a half day program is run at the Gold Coast and Nathan campuses.

Gold Coast campus
