Power management settings on your computer

How to

  1. On a Windows 2000 or Windows XP computer click "Start" at the bottom left of your screen
  2. Select "Settings" from the menu and click on "Control Panel"
  3. Select "Display" in the control panel
  4. Click on the "Screen Saver" Tab at the top
  5. If the Griffith Standard Operating Environment is not loaded on to your PC you should Set Screen Saver to (None). If you have a Griffith SOE loaded on your computer this is preconfigured to activate a password protected screen saver after 15 minutes for security reasons i.e. you won't be able to change this setting
  6. Click on the "Power" button to the lower right (laptops may prompt you to open a different panel during this step)
  7. Set "Turn off Monitor" to a short time duration (5 minutes is recommended)
  8. Click ok when prompted
  9. When your computer goes into sleep mode the screen will go blank. To re-activate the screen, just press a key or move the mouse and the screen will return to a normal state immediately
