Postgraduate coursework teaching

Teaching in postgraduate settings represents a unique combination of opportunities and challenges for the university teacher. Typically, postgraduate coursework programs involve relatively small groups of mature-age students, many of whom are studying part-time.

Like their undergraduate counterparts, these students appreciate:

  • clear program goals and standards
  • context-appropriate assessment and feedback
  • high quality learning activities and resources that take account of different learning styles
  • feeling that they belong to the university learning community

In particular, part-time postgraduate students value flexible access to academic staff, support staff, learning materials, libraries, and computer laboratories.

Postgraduate coursework teaching provides important opportunities to engage students through research-based learning, including research projects. Griffith recognises the unique factors associated with postgraduate coursework study and the associated importance of flexible high quality teaching across the University in postgraduate settings.

This site will be developed to provide links to a range of resources to support academics teaching in postgraduate course settings.
