Scholarship of learning and teaching
GIHE takes a leading role in fostering a culture of scholarship in learning and teaching at Griffith. Scholarship in learning and teaching involves research through individual and collaborative enquiry, research-based innovation and peer evaluation of practices and ideas.
Scholarship in learning and teaching manifests the hallmarks of good scholarship generally and both the framing of enquiry and the content of reflection and interpretation are critically informed by other scholarly work in the same area.
GIHE hosts a number of networks and activities to facilitate the exchange of and reflection on scholarship (research) in learning and teaching. These include:
- The Scholarship of Learning and Teaching Community of Practice
- Grant and award applicant networks and workshops
- Celebrating Teaching Seminars
- The Promoting Excellence Initiative. (In 2008 GIHE will play a lead role in implementing an initiative funded by the Australian Learning and Teaching Council (formerly known as the Carrick Institute) aimed at supporting Groups and Faculties to develop practitioner networks and communities around scholarship of learning and teaching)
