Griffith Institute for Higher Education

The Griffith Institute for Higher Education (GIHE) is Griffith university's academic development unit. The GIHE is a premium provider of evidence-based professional development programs and resources for academic staff, and a leader in higher education research.

The GIHE staff team, guided by Griffith's Learning and Teaching Principles, work closely with academic colleagues and senior managers to address strategic priorities in learning and teaching across the University.

The GIHE mission is:

  • To promote a culture of excellence in learning and teaching;
  • To engage with academic colleagues through professional development and research activities focused on enhancing teaching, the student learning experience and learning outcomes;
  • To support academic staff in developing high quality, evidence-based curricula and academic programs;
  • To foster scholarly and research-based approaches to learning and teaching;
  • To provide collegial advice and collaborative support that equips academic staff to achieve high professional standards; and
  • To contribute to the development and implementation of policies and practices in support of the priorities of the University's Academic Plan.
The GIHE has offices and professional development rooms at the Mt Gravatt and Gold Coast campuses.
