A quick round of golf to ensure sponsors are happy - outfit change - back to the office for a boardroom presentation - outfit change - off to a five-star restaurant to wine and dine visiting delegates, it's all in a days work for Bachelor of Business graduate Deeka Macdonald.

As Marketing Manager at Gold Coast Tourism (GCT), Deeka's job is never boring.

"That's what I like about it most, the fact that everyday I am doing something totally different." Deeka Macdonald

Deeka is currently managing the second stage of Gold Coast Tourism's major Australia and world-wide brand campaign 'Very Gold Coast, VeryGC'.

As part of the campaign Deeka is working on TV commercials, developing magazine executions and coordinating PR activity.

It's extremely exciting to be part of this campaign. We are currently rolling it out in Australia and once that's completed we'll be taking it to the international market.

It's a real joy to see all the hard work we put in result in a highly successful campaign," she said.

Deeka studied a Bachelor of Business Tourism and Marketing degree, giving her the confidence to enter the workforce fully prepared to handle the challenges ahead.

Griffith was the place for me because its courses relate to the work place; it has a strong program in Tourism and Marketing, and the perfect environment for study and for developing my career goals, dreams and aspirations.

A good balance of practical applications combined with a solid grounding in business principles gave Deeka the skills to rapidly progress her career.

"Soon after finishing my degree in 2003, I was able to beat 10 other applicants to land the job of full-time Sales Assistant with GCT," she said.

Deeka's career has been on the upswing ever since. Having progressed to Marketing Coordinator in under a year, she is now Gold Coast Tourism's Marketing Manager.
