Travel Mugs

Reusable Griffith "Mug Club" travel mugs have saved over 100,000 paper cups since 2007.

Bio Pak Products

Catering at Griffith uses BioPak products for most of their disposable function needs.

This service is offered at no extra charge. BioPak provides Australian companies environmentally friendly solutions by supplying ecologically compatibility raw materials that do not negatively affect a products economic, social or practical usefulness.

Dishwasher

Two of the University's largerest usage dishwashers – located in the Colleges Dining kitchens on the Nathan and Mt Gravatt campuses – have been replaced after much testing.

Campus Life staff tested 6 new commercial dishwashers over 3 months to determine which was the most energy efficient machine to use.

Areas explored included water, power and chemical usage. Replacing the old machines has resulted in a combined saving of 30% in these three main usage areas.

Beer Pumps

To reduce energy usage and carbon emissions, the Nathan Uni Bar and Function Centre uses air operated beer pumps.

Vending Machines

Vending machines use the newest technology in order to reduce power and water usage.

The new Coke vending machines on campus have also introduced a ‘Lights Out’ Initiative that turns off the lights in the machine between the hours of 10pm and 6am every day in order to reduce carbon emission and save energy.

Supporting suppliers that support sustainable practices

Campus Life is part of the TAG buying group which ranks companies in relation to their sustainable practices.
