The Strategy has been developed to obtain equitable employment and career development opportunities for Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people at Griffith University.
The overall aim of the strategy is to develop opportunities for Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to:
- improve access to continuing employment
- improve participation in a wide range of work areas
- improve representation at all levels of employment, and
- provide career development opportunities.
The aims of the strategy will be achieved by:
- encouraging Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to seek employment at Griffith University;
- providing increased access to employment opportunities;
- providing opportunities to develop appropriate skills to secure permanent employment or career advancement;
- providing culturally sensitive support for Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff.
- building strong and lasting community networks with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander groups.
- Reviewing the direction of Indigenous Australian employment effort and fine tuning those efforts.
- Developing methods for increased representation of Indigenous Australians in senior academic roles.
