The foci of GRIST research are:

  • Social dimensions of transportation - including health impacts
  • The interaction of land use and transportation systems
  • Sustainable transport - including public transport and active travel

The group's substantial GIS expertise has been used to develop a computer model known as the Land Use and Public Transportation Accessibility Index. Following a successful pilot study in 2005, Queensland Transport and the Gold Coast City Council have funded further LUPTAI development and its application to the south east corridor of the State.
