Research Expertise 

Major research interest is in aquatic ecosystem ecology.  Specific interests include:

• nitrogen and carbon cycling in aquatic environments and riparian zones;
  
• the role of hydrology in aquatic ecosystem functioning, including groundwater-surface water interactions;
  
• controls on aquatic primary production at a landscape scale;
  
• impacts of human activities on ecosystem processes;
  
• using measures of ecosystem processes as indicators of river health.
