- Population genetic, dispersal and the role of farm dams for macroinvertebrates conservation
- Description
- Farm dams are important components of south Queensland landscape. Using genetic methods, such as microsatellite and assignment testing, these disconnected systems are used to investigate dispersal patterns (e.g. trigger, rate, randomness etc) of a number of macroinvertebrates species with and without flying adults. The role of farm dams as conservation agents for native macroinvertebrates species will also be investigated, these systems potentially providing non-optimal but more stable/persistent habitat during periods of drought.
