- Mapping Broadscale Wind Erosion in Desert Australia using field measurements, meteorological records and remote sensing
- Description
- The proposed PhD research program will estimate broadscale soil loss by wind erosion at the catchment scale by identification of source areas of wind eroded sediment and estimation of broadscale dust loads and concentrations. This will be achieved through the use of the Computational Environmental Modeling System and other at a high spatial resolution (up to 5km) within the Lower Murray Darling Catchment.
Key Questions that will be addressed are:
- What are the major source areas of dust entrainment within the catchment;
- What is the estimated dust load from the catchment;
- What is the estimated soil loss from the catchment;
