Project description
This pilot research project developed new insights into the patterns and dynamics of travel activity among recent residential areas within Australia's major urban areas. New concepts and approaches are tested for assessing travel self-containment within such localities. A key aim was to map and explain the relationship between urban form, urban structure, and trip generation patterns. The pilot then undertook preliminary testing of these concepts via empirical analysis of suburban travel activity, focusing on recent master-planned fringe developments.
