This research is part of a four year Australian Research Council Linkage (2010-2013) project exploring environmental influences on children's independent mobility, active travel and health. This research will assist in providing the necessary support to justify interventions in the built, social and policy environments to sustain healthy lifestyles for children through increased physical activity and social interaction.
Specific research aims are to identify:
- How and where do children travel in Australian environments?
- Do children obtain significant physical activity and social benefit from children's independent mobility and active transport?
- What the built, social, and policy environment influences are on CIM and travel behaviour and through that, health?
Information on the initial project proposal is provided in the iMATCH brochure. Further details on the linkage project can be obtained from the research team.
