Project description
The Royal Government of Bhutan's response to environmental management and sustainability, in pursuit of improvements in Gross National Happiness, has included high level government commitment and appropriate environmental policies and regulations. But to move towards sustainable development, environmental management must go further, mainstreaming or integrating environment into development planning within all sectors.
Building on experience in mainstreaming training, Prof Lex Brown has received an AusAID Public Sector Linkages Program grant to build the capacity of the Bhutanese government in environmental mainstreaming. The training will run for approximately one year, with eight Bhutanese government delegates receiving specialised coursework sessions and one-on-one training in Thimphu, Bhutan, as well as further training and work attachments in Brisbane.
This project assists the response of Bhutan to environmental management and sustainability. In moving towards sustainable development, environmental management must go further, mainstreaming or integrating environment into development planning within all sectors.
