Four Griffith students will get a chance to study an environment radically different from home after earning a valuable exchange scholarship to study at a European university. Bachelor of Science (Environment) students Pia Benaud and Tim Bruton, and Urban and Environmental Planning student Justine Mahanga are off to the UK, while Urban and Environmental Planning student Jessica Lisle heads to Vienna, Austria. The scholarships are part of the Environmental Education Student Exchange Program in which Griffith is the Queensland partner, said Griffith?s program coordinator Dr Darryl Hawker. ?This is the third group of students Griffith has sent. It?s a great way for them to gain global experience, make important international contacts, and get to travel Europe in their time off,? he said.
As well as the chance to study a semester of their coursework in an environment totally different from Queensland, they enjoy a $7600 grant from the Australian Government to help with the costs.
Students can choose to spend a semester studying at East Anglia University in England, Linkoping University in Sweden or Vienna?s University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences. To take part, you?ll need to be studying a degree program at Griffith or an interstate partner university that is structured around a core of subjects relating to environmental science, environmental management or sustainable development.
