With a strong focus on the environment, and underpinned by current research, Griffith’s urban and environmental planning degrees are a great place to start your career as a planning professional.

The Bachelor of Urban and Environmental Planning gives you a foundation in planning-related issues such as land use and regional growth management; and core environmental issues such as land and water management, ecology and conservation biology, and pollution studies.

Urban and environmental planningYou can also combine your degree with a Bachelor of Science or a Bachelor of Science (Environment). Depending on your choice of second degree, you can major in

  • applied biology
  • applied chemistry
  • climate change adaptation
  • ecotourism
  • environmental science
  • marine biology
  • environmental protection
  • environmental sustainability
  • natural resources and pollution

If you wish to broaden your studies further Griffith offers a combined program in Laws and Science (Environment) which will give you a thorough knowledge of the disciplines of science, technology, economics, law and human values – with an emphasis on the contribution of these fields to understanding environmental issues.

Griffith also offers a Graduate Certificate in Urban and Environmental Planning for professionals in planning and allied fields and those interested in working as planners. It addresses planning skills and issues and aims to broaden your professional understanding of both practical and theoretical responses to planning challenges.

If you wish to improve your theoretical knowledge and practical skills in dealing with contemporary planning and development challenges, you can also apply for our Master of Urban and Environmental Planning.
