The Griffith Centre for Coastal Management is committed to providing a supportive and productive research environment. Interns and higher degrees research (Masters and PhD) students play an important role in the research efforts of the Griffith Centre for Coastal Management.
Student and intern projects are closely aligned with the Centre's primary research programs including estuarine modelling, coastlines, climate change impact and adaptation, community engagement, infrastructure and technology, urban catchments and waterways, and water future.
A collaborative and cooperative culture within our Centre encourages students and interns to share their ideas, progress and findings.
A number of initiatives have also been developed to support the training of high quality researchers.This training and development takes the form of:
- Griffith University Industry Placement (IP) and Industry Affiliates Programs (IAP)
- A variety of information sessions and training workshops
- Mentoring by senior researchers
- Volunteer opportunities to develop skills and experience
- Inclusion in the activities of the Centre including a variety of networking opportunities
- Representation in the decision making process for the strategic direction of the Centre
Students and interns are well supported in terms of laboratory, fieldwork and computer facilities. Additionally students and interns are encouraged to, and assisted with, developing their own professional scientific networks (locally, nationally and internationally)
