CoastEd Logo

CoastEd is a community and school based education program providing the opportunity for the Gold Coast community and youth to learn about our precious coastal area from qualified Environmental Scientists. The CoastEd program seeks to increase the capacity of the Gold Coast community to participate in coastal decision making through raising awareness of current coastal issues.

CoastEd is an award winning, community and school based education program providing the opportunity for the Gold Coast community and youth to learn about our precious coastal area from qualified Environmental Scientists.The CoastEd program seeks to increase the capacity of the Gold Coast community to participate in coastal decision making by informing and educating on the importance of sustainable management of our coastal and environmental systems.

CoastEd aims to:

  • Provide valuable information and resources to schools and the community.
  • Increase the capacity of the Gold Coast community to participate in coastal decision making through increased awareness and participation.
Past awards for CoastEd include:
  • 2009    Regional Achievement and Community Awards – The Golden Circle Environment and Landcare Award Semi-finalist
  • 2005    Healthy Waterways Awards Cutting Edge School Award Finalist
The program offers a limited number of free information sessions covering a wide range of topics that relate to our local coastal environment. Sessions can be booked for 30 or 60 minutes and may include activities run in conjunction with the BeachCare Program such as beach clean-ups and dune plantings*. CoastEd is available to schools (primary and secondary level) as well as community groups such as surf life saving clubs and scouts/girl guides. Sessions can be undertaken within your school classroom/community hall or on a Gold Coast beach depending on what suits your group size, age and structure.
