All of the research themes represented in the Centre have a policy and social dimension, both in terms of the causes of environmental problems, and in their solution. The theme in society and policy will be future-focused, with the aim of understanding the impacts which different pathways of economic and technological development are likely to have on resource utilisation, sustainability and global social equity, and the policy options which are necessary to ensure the most effective outcomes for the planet and its peoples.
