Rapid advances in platform technologies such as bio-molecular technologies, nuclear magnetic resonance, stable isotope spectroscopy, satellite and remote sensing technologies, as well as complex ecosystem modelling, have transformed our understanding of important terrestrial ecosystem processes. The advent of these approaches provides a timely opportunity for comprehensive studies of climate change. Adaptation to climate change is an immediate challenge facing humankind and this Centre aims to contribute to the provision of a sound foundation for community responses to this challenge.
