Tuesday 26 October 2010  |  12.30pm - 2.00pm  | N13_2.08

Dr Chris Matthews  |  Coordinator, Indigenous Research Network, Griffith University

Topic: Indigenous Name for the Centre! Indigenising the Curriculum! What Next?

Since the Bradley report there has been a greater emphasis on social inclusion agendas and the need to increase Indigenous participation in Higher Education at all levels. Connected to these agenda’s is the University’s push for indigenising the curriculum and more recently the University agreed to establish the Indigenous Research Network. This year Prof. Dave Lambert approached me regarding an Indigenous name for your research centre. As an academic in this current environment it is natural to question the importance of these initiatives simply because it does not relate to me, my research and what I teach at the University. This presentation will explore why these initiatives are important and how it relates to all academics. In addition, I will present the idea behind the Indigenous Research Network and how we can work together for a better future.

Thursday 4 November 2010  |   12.30pm - 2.00pm  | N13_0.23

Dr Peter Hoppe  | Business Sustainability Manager, Queensland Urban Utilities

Topic:   "Towards Business Sustainability & Sustainable Stakeholder Management"
Dr Hoppe's presentation will discuss sustainable stakeholder management which constitutes one of five primary business sustainability types and emphasises pro-active community participation, collaboration and stakeholder empowerment.
