Dr Jeremy Brownlie, a new member to the Environmental Futures Centre and an academic based in the School of Biomolecular and Physical Sciences (BPS), has been elected to the Federation of Australian Scientific and Technological Societies' (FASTS) executive committee and board as an early career scientist.

FASTS is the peak body for science in Australia, representing more than 60,000 scientists in academia, government institutes such as CSIRO as well as industry based researchers. FASTS works to influence science and technology policy through direct interaction with federal ministers and politicians, regulatory and funding agencies such as the ARC and NH&MRC or the media.
Jeremy is not only interested in gaining a better understanding of how science is funded and governed, but also is keen to lift the profile of FASTS to younger researchers and academics who may be unaware of its activities or professional opportunities that are available through the organisation.
