Thesis

Competitive coral-algal interaction under ocean acidification scenarios.

Description

My thesis will investigate about the specific mechanisms whereby algae damage corals under water acidification scenarios. I will test simultaneously two currently debated hypotheses: secondary metabolites versus dissolved organic carbon, both of which are hypothetical strategies used by algae to outcompete corals. This will be evaluated under laboratory and field conditions enclosed in ocean acidification contexts.
