Our mechanical engineering program is built on a strong foundation of theory, reinforced by experience and innovation. You will be heavily involved in the development and use of new materials and technologies, as well as design and analysis using the most advanced software and computer systems.

Our program will provide you with

  • a comprehensive understanding of common engineering principles
  • emphasis on mechanical design to provide the widest range of career opportunities
  • electives which allow a number of specialisations, including vehicle technology

Your degree structure will focus on the key strands of mechanical engineering to include

  • materials and manufacturing
  • thermofluids
  • structure
  • mechanical design

As part of your degree, you will gain a strong theoretical knowledge base with extensive practical experience through field trips, machine designs, industry placements, guest lectures, and project design and management.

You will develop invaluable and transferable professional skills to enable you to
  • become knowledgeable and skilled in mechanical engineering
  • develop effective communication, problem-solving and teamwork abilities
  • possess innovative, creative and critical judgement skills
  • become socially responsible and engaged with communities
