Thesis title Local Search for Constraint-based Protein Structure Prediction
Description : Protein Structure Prediction (PSP) is an important problem in medicine (e.g. drug design) and biotechnology (e.g. enzyme design). PSP is unsolved problem and proofed to be NP-hard and NP-complete for some simplified constraint-based models. Local search is an emerging approach for searching large search space by starting at a randomised position and exploring greedily toward the target with local knowledge. Despite the fact that local search is incomplete, it is a fast method in solving constraint-base large scale problems. Applying Local search in PSP modelled under constraint relations may be a potential search direction.
