Contact details for Dr Wei Dong Guo
Research expertise
Dr Guo has active research interests in the fields of deep foundations (theoretical modelling of piles using thermodynamics, solid mechanics, soil plasticity, constitutive model, and advanced mathematics), beam-soil interaction (theoretical modelling for soil nail, anchors and pipelines under combined loading), ground improvement (stone column foundations, dynamic compaction, vertical drain, etc), slope engineering (pile-slope and -tunnelling interaction owing to soil movement). His work involves analytical, experimental and numerical approaches. It is sophisticated and fundamental to the development of the profession. Most of his work has direct applications in design, with some earlier work being written in design books.
Dr. Guo is a regular and very active reviewer for several international journals, such as Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering, American Society of Civil Engineers, ASCE. U.S.A. Canadian Geotechnical Journal, Canada; Computers and Geotechnics – An International Journal, U. K., and Canada; International Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, USA, UK, etc; Journal of Zhejiang University, SCIENCE, P.R. China. Dr. Guo is an overseas editor of Chinese Journal of Geotechnical Engineering; and an editor of GSP153 (American Society of civil Engineers publications), etc. He has been a member of a number of organising committees and reviewer for many international conferences. He is currently an assessor for Australian Research Council.
