Business information systems professionals integrated information technology and business management practices critical to the success of modern organisations.
This degree will equip you to merge an understanding of technology with wider business and people skills. It was developed with Griffith's network of industry advisors to meet the needs of one of the world's most dynamic industries.
The new Bachelor of Business Information Systems degree is distinctive for a number of reasons:
- There is a growing realisation that business and technology are fundamentally linked. This program will provide you with relevant and up-to-date experiences that demonstrated the inextricable link between technology and business.
- The program is interdisciplinary in that you will study the design, application, and use of information and communication technologies in organisations. It goes beyond purely technical aspects to provide a human-centered perspective, which takes into account the social, organisational, and cultural contexts of ICT design and use.
- The program is multidisciplinary in that you will study how people transform technology, and how technology transforms people. The program content lies at the intersection of people, technology and information systems and focuses on the ever expanding relationship between information systems and the daily lives of people, both at home and at work.
- The program is practical. You will design information systems and services to meet the needs of people. The program will help you develop a broad understanding of both social aspects of technology (e.g., privacy issues, ethics, communication skills, marketing and management) as well as the technical aspects (e.g., search engines, web development, database design, and the management of the information systems function).
