Industry professionals discussing an information technology project

Over the past decade, the field of Information and Communication Technology has expanded dramatically, and trends in the Information Technology workforce have also changed. The focus of IT is shifting from a technical emphasis, to include project management and business skills. This trend confirms that IT professionals need to evolve and deliver technology based solutions as well as manage the process of delivering solutions. IT professionals need to understand the way in which Information Technology is used within business contexts. These skill combinations are in high demand.

The Bachelor of Business Information Systems combines elements of a business degree and an IT degree into one to produce graduates equally at home in the boardroom or server room. Griffith University recognises that the gap between the IT person and the business person is disappearing and it is essential for IT professionals to have business skills and for business people to have IT skills.

In this degree, you will be exposed to a variety of modern technologies alongside an array of traditional business subjects, giving you a combination of up to date relevant skills.

The Bachelor of Business Information Systems graduates will be equipped to handle complex business processes and technology management systems, giving you a unique advantage in the employment market by bringing an interdisciplinary focus to your work.

As a graduate, you?ll also be eligible for membership of the Australian Computer Society.
