Research based consultancy
- (2010) I was invited and funded by UNESCO to organise an expert meeting on Greening TVET in Korea, Seoul. I was working with representatives from Botswana, Madagascar, Lesotho, Zambia, Thailand, Vietnam, China and Korea to prepare a suite of case studies on the ‘green agenda in TVET’ within the policy planning and practices in their countries. Reports on the case studies were presented during the meeting.
- (2007) I was invited and funded by UNESCO-UNEVOC to organise a virtual conference on ESD and vocational education (October 22 - November 10). I was the conference moderator, facilitating and summarising discussions, preparing the background paper and the final report (available at UNESCO-UNEVOC website). 106 participants from 49 countries took part in the conference. Three broad areas were discussed: (1) content change of vocational education to address issues of unemployment, sustainable development of communities and labour migration; (2) sustainability of vocational education as an institution; and (3) the impact of vocational education graduates on poverty alleviation and social and economic sustainability of communities. Virtual conferencing proved to be an effective tool to establish and maintain a dialogue between different constituencies across different contexts.
- (2006) I was invited and funded to organise and facilitate a research forum on Challenges and Solutions for TVET development for European countries in transition. This was a result of a collaborative research project I led in 2005 that involved working with representatives from 8 countries including: the Republic of Macedonia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovenia, Montenegro, Bulgaria, Croatia and Turkey on the following contemporary issues in TVET: Social partnerships and TVET; Quality assurance; Social inclusion, equity and meeting diverse needs; Reorientation towards the future: occupations in demand/ youth employment. I was invited and funded by UNESCO-UNEVOC to write a background paper, moderate a three week - virtual conference and prepare a final report on TVET and sustainability.
