The Applied Theatre Researcher/The International Drama/Theatre and Education Association (IDEA) Journal is a refereed journal with an international advisory board. Though primarily an English-language journal, papers are also accepted for publication in French and Spanish, the other two official The International Drama/Theatre and Education Association languages. The Applied Theatre Researcher/IDEA Journal is normally published once a year.

Applied Theatre Researcher
From 2003-2008, The Applied Theatre Researcher has proudly hosted the The International Drama/Theatre and Education Association Journal, the Journal of The International Drama/Theatre and Education Association.
The Applied Theatre Researcher is the worldwide e-journal for theatre and drama in non-traditional contexts. It focuses on performance practices with specific participant or client groups in a range of social contexts such as: drama and theatre in education, theatre for development, theatre in therapeutic settings, theatre in business, theatre in political debate and social action, theatre in life-long education, theatre in prisons, theatre in health education and awareness, theatre in aged care, theatre in hospitals, youth theatre.
The International Drama/Theatre and Education Association (IDEA)
The International Drama/Theatre and Education Association, is the world peak body of drama educators. Besides being an advocacy body for drama and theatre in educational contexts, The International Drama/Theatre and Education Association assists in the development of international projects concerned with using theatre and drama as a space for inter-cultural dialogue and also in assisting in the empowerment and enfranchisement of young people at risk, at social disadvantage and in war zones.
The journal's main focus is on identifying, and critically reflecting upon, examples of drama and theatre activity from around the world. The best and most exciting work in all continents is represented and featured.
